Greetings!
How quickly September has come and gone and we are now well into Fall! Hopefully you are enjoying the change of the season in both color and temperature.
We want to remind you of the exciting activities ERTA has planned for October and November. The details are below. Please take note of registration deadlines when submitting your registrations online. We look forward to seeing you at these events!
Wine Tasting Nights
The now famous ERTA Wine Tastings are starting a new season at the MacTaggart branch of Wine and Beyond and they are filling up fast. In fact, there are only two spaces left for the Oct. 9th “Wines of Argentina” night so if you are interested, please register as soon as possible!

November 6: Wines of Tuscany
Location: MacTaggart Ridge Wine and Beyond at 5962 Mullen Way
Time: Tasting room doors open at 6:00 p.m. for registration and social time. Presentation and tasting of wines (or beer) will occur from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Cost: ERTA member (plus a guest): $35, non-member: $40
Food: Please note that food allergies or preferences cannot be accommodated at these events.
Starting this season, we are asking participants to pay in advance by e-transfer for this event. Please make payment by e-transfer to ‘ertatreasurer1@gmail.com’ upon registration. Please add WINE TASTING as the subject of the e-transfer. The registration fee is non refundable.

ERTA Introduction to Pickleball 2025: Lesson and Round Robin Game Play
Are you interested in learning to play pickleball? This introductory workshop is a 2 hour session with a certified coach at the Edmonton Volleyball/Pickleball Centre. The first hour will focus on skill development and introductory drills; the second hour includes learning about the game through round robin game play. There will be a maximum of 16 participants for this session. This event Includes: a coach, court and paddle rental, round robin sheets, and balls for game play. This event is filling up fast, so register as soon as you can!

Location: EVP Centre: 9455 45th Avenue Northwest, Edmonton
Time: 10 am – noon
Cost: ERTA members $20 +GST = $21; Non-members $30.00 +GST= $31.50 **Please note that ERTA is subsidizing $10.00 +GST for each ERTA member resulting in the $20 member fee.

Mayfield Dinner Theatre: October 22
Reservations have been made for the brunch presentation of The Simon & Garfunkel Story. This internationally renowned stage production tells the story, backed by original video footage, of how two young boys from Queens, New York, became the most successful duo of all time. The Wednesday brunch has become popular with seniors because of the lower ticket prices and they sell out fast!
Tickets for C Section seating are $90.99 while Section B seating costs $99.91. No reservations have been made for A Section($108.84) or Gold Section($117.76) seating; however, tickets may be available if the request is made early enough.
Mayfield Dinner Theatre: November 19
Seating has been reserved for The 90s: It’s All Coming Back to Me Now. The vast expanse of music of the 1990s, sung by artists like Cheryl Crow, Lenny Kravitz, The Tragically Hip, the Backstreet Boys and others, will be showcased.
Tickets are as follows: Section C: $99.75, Section B: $103.95, Section A: $112.35, and Gold Section Booths: $120.75.
Call Vi Oko at 780-459-8013 to book your seat. Then send a cheque, made payable to the Edmonton Retired Teachers’ Association, to 20 Glenhaven Crescent, St. Albert, AB T8N 1A5. Please date your cheque for October 1 or November 1, depending on the show you are attending. Seating is assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
Volunteer Opportunity: Second Wind Conference 2026
As with all events we organize, the willingness of volunteers to assist is directly correlated to the success of the event. Presently, the Second Wind Conference 2026 is looking for volunteers to find presenters and organize the event.
