President's Page Fall 2026
I wish to thank our hardworking and dedicated past and present Board members for all they have done to ensure ERTA is strong, sustainable and meeting the needs of its members. This dedicated volunteer group has worked tirelessly, on a shoestring budget, to fulfill our mission:
to be an engaging, vibrant and supportive community of retired educators that provides opportunities for connections, wellness, learning, advocacy and volunteerism.
I am so grateful to this group of volunteers who believe, as I do, in the importance of having a vibrant association for our retired colleagues.
ERTA is fully run by volunteers! Would you like to get involved? There are many ways you can! From easiest to most time-involved, here are some ideas of how you can support ERTA:
- Maintain your membership!
- Invite your friends and colleagues to join ERTA. We will soon be offering an Affiliate Membership, but did you know that in addition to teachers from Alberta and from other provinces and territories, the following are eligible to be members:
- Retired instructors of Alberta educational institutions; and
- Retired employees (support staff) of school boards, universities, colleges, technical institutions, ARTA and the ATA who have contributed to an Alberta government pension plan.

-
Attend ERTA’s wonderful events. Check out the website and the newsletter for information about upcoming events.
- Provide feedback to the Board of Directors about a possible direction or an activity by emailing info@myerta.org.
- Propose to organize an ERTA-sponsored activity! If you have an idea of an activity that you would like to organize with a Board member partner, contact us at info@myerta.org.
- Submit an expression of interest to join the Board of Directors. Board members are elected at the Annual General Meeting held at our summer luncheon in June of each year. Please contact the Past President at ppresidenterta@gmail.com for further information!
Volunteers, members and supporters are the foundation of our organization. All of our members are invited to get involved to keep ERTA strong, active and serving you!
