ERTA (Edmonton Retired Teachers’ Association) provides social opportunities for retired teachers to meet and enjoy the exchange of memories and experiences with friends and fellow members.
Teachers in the Edmonton area who have contributed to the Alberta Teachers’ Retirement Fund are eligible to belong to ERTA.
Teachers from the city, St. Albert, Sherwood Park, Spruce Grove, and surrounding areas who worked for the Public and/or Catholic boards are encouraged to join.

You are encouraged to invite fellow colleagues who have retired to join us as your guest.
We are the “voice for Edmonton’s retired teachers”.

The ERTA and ARTA Relationship

Edmonton Retired Teachers’ (ERTA), is a branch of the Alberta Retired Teachers’ Association (ARTA).
ARTA is the province wide organization that represents retired teachers and provides a single voice to governments and other organizations with respect to pensions and issues related to retired members.
Members of ARTA’s Board of Directors include an elected executive, eighteen branch presidents, and chairs of the six ARTA standing committees.
ARTA offers one of the best voluntary Retiree Benefit Plans in Canada. Now a self-administered plan, it was created in 1995 by retired teachers for retired teachers. Options for different levels of coverage for Extended Health Care (with or without Emergency Travel coverage) and for Dental Care, provide members with the freedom to select the coverage best suited for them and their families. Emergency Travel coverage contains no pre-existing conditions clauses and not stability clauses.
Membership in ARTA is a requirement for participation in the ARTA Benefit Plans. ERTA and ARTA are separate entities and membership in one association does not include membership in the other.
